James Arthur Biography:

His parents divorced when James was one year old. They hardly spoke to each other for more than twenty years, but they are agreed for his audition to attend together to support their son.

Arthur went first to Ings Farm Primary School in Redcar, North Yorkshire. When he was nine, he moved with his mother Shirley, and his stepfather Ronald R to Bahrain where he studied at the local British School of Bahrain for four years.

When James was 14 they moved back to the United Kingdom with his mother Shirley and his three sisters Jasmin Sian, and Neve. On his return, he continued his studies at Redcar’s Rye Hills School.

Prior to his involvement with “The X Factor, he was a singer and guitarist in a number of bands between 2005 and 2014, and later as a solo artist.

Arthur did originally auditioned for The X Factor in Newcastle. He did an acoustic rendition of juror Tulisa Campbell’s “Young“, before he declared his past, with a short period in foster care included and the time he had spent in apartments after break-ups within his family.
